WOMEN’S RETREAT
September 5-7
Love is Lord of Heaven and Earth.
With Fr. Emmerich Vogt, OP
In Sacred Scripture Jesus refers to His Father as “Lord of Heaven and Earth” (cf. Matt 11:25; Luke 10:21). And we know from Saint John, the beloved disciple, that this God, who is Lord of Heaven and Earth, is Love personified (I John 4:8). Thus Love is Lord of heaven and earth. This should be a source of great consolation to us Christians for it means that whatever happens in our lives, God would never do anything contrary to love or to our salvation. He is on our side, so whatever occurs in our lives can become part of His plan for our salvation. Our faith and hope are based on this Love and we, as with our Saints, should always hold onto it. This retreat explores the meaning of this truth for our daily lives.
JOURNALING RETREAT

Praying as Remembering: St. Augustine and the Sacred Stories of Our Lives
With Deacon Chris Anderson
I am an Augustinian, a son of Saint Augustine, who once said, “With you I am a Christian, and for you I am a bishop.” In this sense, all of us can journey together toward the homeland that God has prepared for us. - Pope Leo XIV
St. Augustine believed that God speaks to us through our lives, in what he called “drops of times,” and when we remember these moments, he speaks to us again. Using several passages from The Confessions to get us started, we’ll remember a few of our own sacred moments—and like Augustine, we’ll write about them, and in writing, pray.
Please bring your journal or laptop or whatever you write with.
All are welcome. You don’t have to be an experienced writer: your writing will be private, for the sake of prayer. You don’t need to know anything about Augustine. He’s just a way of helping us focus.
Many of us are feeling anxious about the state of the world, but Augustine is saying: be not afraid. There is something here deeper and more beautiful than hatred and justice. We are not alone. God is with us in this moment, and in every moment of our lives.
